I was introduced to this sauce for BBQs by my partners family who spent many years in South Africa. There wasn't a formal recipe as such so I've experimented with various things and this recipe was generally agreed to be the best.

Preparation

  1. Heat the oil in the pan
  2. Fry the onions 2-3 mins until slightly soft
  3. Blend the tinned tomatoes in food processor
  4. Add the beans and blended tomatoes to the pan
  5. Add all the sauces and juices
  6. Add salt and pepper to taste
  7. Finely can be any size">chop the herbs and add
  8. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 30 mins or until BBQ meat is done.
  9. Stir occasionally

    • 2tsp lime juice
    • 1tbsp fresh basil
    • 1tbsp fresh parsley
    • 1tbsp fresh oregano
    • 1tbsp fresh thyme
