Preparation
Prepare the BBQ
- Prepare the BBQ - the heat source should be to the sides, not in the centre. If you are using woodchips place these in the centre.
- Light the BBQ and replace the grill.
- Put a drip tray on the centre of the grill, above the woodchips
Prepare the chicken
- Mix all dry ingredients.
- Rinse the chicken, pat dry, and then brush or spray with oil.
- Rub the seasoning all over the bird.
- Put any leftover seasoning into the cavity.
- Open the can.
- If using woodchips pour half onto them, otherwise drink half (or pour it into a glass for someone else)
Cook
- Stand the can upright and slide the chicken down onto it.
- Place chicken upright in drip tray balanced on can.
- Close the BBQ lid (if it has a vent) or partially close it if not and leave to cook.
- Depending on the temperature cooking will take from 1 ½ - 2 hours.
